WHY DO WE RECOMMEND, RADIATOR HOSES, THERMOSTATS AND COOLANT FLUSHES EVERY 100K MILES?

Sometimes we get asked “why do you recommend radiator hoses, thermostats and coolant flushes every 100,000 miles?” We do this for multiple reasons. First of all we have seen major engine and cooling system damage before 100k miles from bad radiator hoses and thermostats due to overheating. Second, 100k miles is a lot of miles on a thin peace of metal opening and closing thousands or millions of times. We performed these services on a 2011 F150 recently at 110k miles and the thermostat was actually coming apart internally which could not be seen without removing it. The truck was not having any issues but could have been on it’s way to the dark side at any moment. We had a 2012 Dodge 1500 last week with 90k miles and the coolant was starting to turn to gel. So we just recommend these things because it’s not very expensive and it’s just piece of mind that there will be much less of an opportunity for you vehicle to leave you up s*** creek without a paddle.
